LOCAL MICROCLIMATE

The climate is characterized as mediterranean.  The summers are warm and dry with mild to moderate winds and the winters are mild with high rainfalls and strong, northeastern winds. In spring the winds become low to moderate. The theoretical evaporation is superior during the season of vegetation but it is found at the same level during the winter months with the rainfalls.

SOIL TYPES

The soil can be sandy, sandy-loam, loam, clay or sandy-clay. During the past, most of the vineries were planted in fertile plains. But today, they are cultivated in hillsides with steep incline in a way that they are strongly exposed to sun so as to succeed an easy draining. The majority of the vineries of the area are extended in hillsides and the soil is of average mechanical composition and of neuter PH. Also it has got a small percentage of chalk.

METHOD OF VINIFICATION

Myrto is produced under the most modern technology of white wines production and the temperature within the stainless tanks does not exceed the 20o C during the process of fermentation.

THE SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS

Mousa has got a lime, moderate colour and aromas of fresh resin and yellow fruit. The acidity of the wine is cool; it has got a light body, low alcohol content, elegance and resin taste in mouth. Additionally with the beneficial qualities of resin, which are already known from the Ancient times, in this specific wine we can see an exquisite product made in Greece.

COMPLEMENT

Mousa wine is considered as a typical Greek wine, timeless through centuries. It is a retsina wine of perfect quality, having the aroma of pine and a balanced cool taste. It can be combined with fried seafood, shrimps, marinated fish like tuna fish, salmon and anchovy as well as Japanese dishes like sashimi and also with carpaccio, cheese croquettes, dolmades and other dishes with a strong taste of garlic.
