Once...

It was the summer of 1948 when two brothers, John and Spyros Nikolaou decided to make their own wine press in the centre of Aliveri, Evia region.

Every grape harvest was a feast.
The must was taken from the treading of grapes by foot,
and they enjoyed drinking wine with all their heart.

The means were poor but the love for the wine was great.

The times changed, the wine press moved to a new address and was developed into a winery. Gradually, the baton was passed on the second generation, the sons of the establishers, the two cousins Nikos and Nikos Nikolaou.

Having inherited the love for the wine, the second generation, bet on itself to spread its wings and reach the family business even to a higher level, developing the process of vinification and experimenting with the potential of different varieties.

And they succeeded.

Today...

... the winery of Nikolaou is one of the super modern wineries with a rich production of white, red, rose wines and retsinas from different varieties of grapes, international and domestic with the same common goal of high quality, the special taste profiles and the affordable prices.

The winery

The winery is situated in Aliveri, Evia region, in a land of 10 acres in extent.

There, all the steps of the wine production are followed with a particular attentiveness one by one.

First and basic step is the pressing of grapes in the highly modern spiritual press.

Subsequently, as soon as the pressing of grapes is completed, the remaining is led to the stainless tanks so as the ferment to be done in controlled low temperatures.

Then, having let the wine to rest, the stabilization follows, the filtering and finally the bottling.

In every case we take care of the quantity to correspond with the quality.

During all this procedure, nothing is left in its destiny.
Every phase is accomplished with the help of highly modern equipment and under the surveillance of expertise stuff and an experienced affiliate oenologist..

The Nikolaou winery as well, has a capability of a great production because it is able to bottle 2000 bottles per hour with a tankage of over 2,500,000 litres.
